The Power and the Pleasure of Becoming A Grandmother

The power, pleasure and complication of being a grandparent took me by surprise. As a younger generation was born to our family, I became a mother of a mother, and had to navigate a very new relationship with my daughter as I engaged with my grandson. No matter how close I felt to the new baby, his care was under someone else’s control.
