Don't know if you've heard of a Scottish and Northern Irish journalist, Lesley Riddoch started a women's magazinine some years ago called Harpies and Quines(a play on an upmarket one called Harpers and Queens) which folded after a few years but is still fondly remembered by some of us. Quines is NE Scottish word used for women and girls
Fantastic article, Jody!💕 I’m embracing my impending cronage and enjoying that free feeling again, as you say, that I remember as a girl. The fuckable brackets, perhaps?
“In fact, this reflective, more philosophical version of me, so much more like the young girl I was before puberty, feels like a workable identity to enter my sixties with.” I want to pause on how this line hit me. It feels so resonant and true. I’m closing in on 50 myself, and I’ve been thinking (and writing) some lately on the ways I’m getting back to the me before I started acquiring so damn much “should”—layers upon layers of what it is to be woman. Oh and the silencing.
Great piece, Jody.
To joyfulness, to opinionatedness, to doing both out loud!! 🥂
Looking forward to more Jody….I am reclaiming “spinster” as a wise and cool older gal.
I think it's a word that deserves some attitude, I trust that you have that Eileen?! x
I’d be happy to whip up some attitude for the cause.

Looked her up - brilliant woman! Saw a front cover of Harpers & Quine from 1992 on her website too. xx
