Alison, what a vivid account of your holiday, really enjoyed it. Loved the boring bathing suit, the eating up of all the culture, and observing while dining. Sounded like a sumptuous experience and lovely gift to yourself. Its inspired me to attempt a little lonely woman trip somewhere interesting. Xxx
I loved this Alison! Very evocative, I really felt I was there with you in all that splendidness.
Plus I am full of admiration for your enjoyment in holidaying alone, something I have rarely done. Thank you for allowing me a glimpse into what it is like for you.
Plus I really loved that you properly treated yourself with the best place in town. If not now, then when!
Hope to see you again at the conference in October.
The invisibility of being an older woman, on her own, in a bathing costume can be both extremely relaxing and rather puzzling. Old/er non-mothers and non-partners have as much to offer in conversation and connection as a couple/family on holiday (maybe more!), yet it can be as if there's a forcefield around us. Yes, I know the patriarchy invisibilizes old women unless they are partners and/or mothers, but the world is missing out on so much by doing so (which I guess is the point!)

Thank you Jane! Really look forward to seeing you again in October. X
Great! I also mentioned to Sal about another conference in Chester, for those who are childless. I’m on a panel there. It’s at the end of Sept.
A wonderful read! Thank you
Enjoyed reading. Great travelogue.
Thank you Herbert
PS I meant lone woman not lonely woman (Freudian slip) 🤣🤣
