I've just come back from mainland Greece - part of the Athens' Riviera - and understand how Greece, the Greek and the water can seep into your soul and assuage you. Thanks so much for writing your version of how important Greece has been to you, Lucy...
I absolutely love your story and love Greece. I was going to make Greece my home until Brexit. As a single woman I sometimes think it's not something I'd do. I need to rethink and get my mind in gear. You have opened up my thought-process again. Thank you.
Really enjoyed this, Lucy. What an ‘In at the deep end‘ experience, but I’m so glad it worked out, differently from how you‘d planned, but full of its own riches.
Glad you found your place, Lucy. I love Greece too despite having nearly died from a bad case of COVID last time I went. But that wasn’t Greece’s fault but the overcrowded plane that brought me. My son and his wife have made Crete their home so I’ll be back to visit. Your island sounds beautiful.
I have Greece in my soul too, over and above anywhere else to be honest.
I loved reading this. You write straightforward lyrical - my favorite, and that's some story. Everything in it: life in its tragicomedy. I'm glad you found home in the midst of your everything.
