Such an interesting, inspiring article and discussion of ageing! Yes we’ve all internalised this issue as well as facing the prejudices of others. I’ve had two great-grandmothers who lived well into their 90s and one grandmother who lived to 103. All of these were quite capable at least into their mid 80s. But it was sad seeing them bored or drugged by the seniors’ homes they ended up in. The one who lived to 98 in particular, said at one point, I don’t know why I’m still here! She was upset. These women had so much energy and life experiences that were idle.
