Yep Grace Jones is 77 and still out there performing and being ferocious. She’s a favourite with Advantages of Age members. One of our female members mentioned the length of Ms Jones’ legs. And yes they definitely are long. Happy Birthday Grace.
This is what 74 year old Harriet Harman said in an interview for This Much I Know in the Observer magazine. Most of us heartily agreed with this statement about age. Her robust words are still needed. Society is still in love with youth so we have to hang in there and remember our ‘worth doesn’t depend on sexual attractiveness’. It really is a liberation - the escape from the youth cage.
Peyo is a horse who does important end-of-life therapy in a hospice in Calais. We adored hearing about Peyo and the effect he has on people who are dying. It really is a wonderful idea and sounds like patients receive a huge amount from Peyo’s love.
The Advantages of Age Awards Ceremony is on November 20th 2025. You can buy your tickets soon. It will be at Hoxton Hall and will be flamboyant. If you’d like to sponsor us - categories are going for £200 from Anti-Ageist Activist to Grooviest End of Life Organisation. The idea is to celebrating ageing and people and organisations who are positive in their policies about getting older. Here is our sponsorship deck - https://drive.google.com/.../1c94Bv4un.../view...
The Guardian has a series called The Kindness of Strangers and this week’s article was about a woman who’d been homeless and a heroin addict in Australia. Someone, a woman, chose to give her somewhere to stay and support her. It transformed that woman’s life.
A book shop in King’s Heath near Birmingham has won the Independent Bookshop Award 2025 and Catherine Dawes and Claire only started this book shop during lockdown. And now it is legendary.
