What have we got for you this week? What’s been going on in AofA on FB?
Gina Little from Greenwich will be 80 by the time she does the London Marathon this weekend. And she’s the woman who has done the most London Marathons. Ever. Good luck to her.
We absolutely loved this image from 1937. Afternoon tea on the go.
‘Adjustable clamp rings that can be quickly attached to a walking stick enable the stick to be used as a table, as demonstrated by this English hiker. Rings are carried in knapsack.’
3. Great piece in the Guardian about searching for her wild grandmother by Gina Chick. Her grandmother had to give up her mother Suzanne Chick for adoption and the latter didn't know her name until the adoption laws changed in Australia and she wrote a book about it. Then Gina did her own search and broke open under the tree where her grandmother had hung out with Leonard Cohen.
4. How wonderful! The way Olivia de Havilland celebrated her 103rd birthday. I hope to do the same if I make it that far…
5. One of our members, Ben Cornish shared his new vintage shirt with us because he knew we’d appreciate it. And we did.
6. Remember Joolz, well she’s still around and just reached 70. Glad to hear that she’s in a good place. She’s an artist and poet and worked with the band New Model Army for years doing their album covers etc. She does tattoos for others these days, but the Sunday Times once sent me on trip to find out about her new tattoos in the 80s before they became a thing. Happy Birthday Joolz.
