Aof A's Hot To Trot Talking Points
Every Friday
This was in i-news and basically it’s a report that says the menopause is affected by the culture we live in. What we think and even how many hot flushes we have, can be governed by how we think about it. In Japan, menopausal women don’t take HRT, neither do they have as many hot flushes as we do in the UK. And their translation of menopause is season of renewal! Quite.
As much as I detest the term Midults as I do the extended life of midlife these days, I like the sentiment here. Well part of it. The bit with the older woman dancing and not caring a fig what her friend/relative thinks. This was a dilemma in the Telegraph - ‘My older sister is 65 and, at one of our cousins’ children’s weddings last month, she danced until 3am with all the young people, drank too much, wore a short dress and generally drew attention to herself.
‘When I asked her whether she was ok, she said she’d never felt better. We have another family wedding soon and I am concerned about her undignified behaviour.’’ Well you know what we would say!
Love this. Ian McKellen at Pride 2026. Blessed be the fruits. Indeed.
Eery? Wonderful? This is Tracey Emin as Frida Kahlo by Mary McCartney at the National Portrait Gallery. ·
‘Emin is photographed in the style of fellow artist Frida Kahlo.
Growing up in Margate, Kent, Emin went on to study at the Royal College of Art, before rising to prominence as one of the YBAs (Young British Artists) in the late 1980s. Her work is celebrated for its exploration of deeply personal experiences with both vulnerability and confrontation, across a wide range of media.’
5. For some time, there has been a crocheting thing going on. Even the village where I’m from in Yorkshire has post box crochet toppers. I am not one of them, though.
6. This is more like it. Menoapalooza in the states. Talking and playing music about the menopause and its effects. Brining the vulva to the people. We can only approve.
